New Patient Questions

Your first visit with us will start with a consultation. We will ask you about your medical, family and social history, current condition and then perform an appropriate examination. A chiropractic examination includes physical tests, neurological tests, orthopedic tests, and an evaluation of your spine and posture. Depending on the complexity of the case, we may recommend X-rays, MRIs, blood work or other tests to get a more complete picture of the nature of your condition.

After the examination, we will explain your condition and talk to you about any other concerns you have. We provide the first adjustment at this visit as long as you do not need imaging before your adjustment. We will also provide you with a treatment plan, to get you on a path to wellness.

The length of time varies because the doctor needs to understand your health history and your short term and long term goals. It is estimated to be 45 minutes to 60 minutes.

We recommend bringing or having a picture of the following:

• Photo ID

• Insurance Card (if applicable)

• Car Accident claim paperwork or Slip and Fall claim paperwork (if applicable)

• Relevant imaging or medical records

No, in general you do not need a referral to see a chiropractor. Insurance HMO plans may request one from your primary provider.

Yes, we do. Whether it is simple colic in a newborn or lifelong back pain in an elderly person, we are able to help everyone with chiropractic care.

Yes. Many women choose chiropractic care during pregnancy to help relieve back pain, pelvic discomfort, and other common aches as their bodies change. Our office uses gentle techniques, an activator tool that is gentle, highly precise, and low-force impact to the spine and joints, and specific adjusting tables with modifications for pregnancy-specific positioning to keep you comfortable throughout your treatment.

During a chiropractic adjustment, it is very common to hear a popping noise. Sometimes it can be startling for people who are not used to receiving chiropractic adjustments. This noise is completely normal. It is a result of small air pockets inside the fluid of your joints releasing during the gentle stretching of joints. It is painless and can happen in any of your joints, not just your spine.

Yes! Chiropractic treatment is a completely safe and effective treatment option when preformed by a licensed chiropractor and can help put you on your path to wellness. Chiropractors are highly trained licensed doctors who evaluate each patients condition before recommending treatment. To practice in the state of Texas, chiropractors are required to pass Part I, II, III, IV National Board Examinations, a Physiotherapy National Board Exam and a state exam. They are also required 16 Post-graduate continuing education hours annually to maintain a license to practice in Texas. Like any form of healthcare, chiropractic care carries some risks. Mild soreness or stiffness after an adjustment is relatively common and typically resolves in a day or two. If chiropractic care is not appropriate due to your condition or medical history, you may be referred to another healthcare provider to ensure you receive the most appropriate care.

Absolutely. Our practice is family oriented and we provide chiropractic care for all ages. When it comes to sports, it is important that physical health is not overlooked. Playing sports on what seems to be a simple injury can end up doing a lot of damage to joints or muscles in the long run.
Chiropractic needs are different for everyone and depend on your condition. After you come in for a consultation, we will provide you with a care plan tailored to your needs. People need regular chiropractic care in order to have a quality life.

Treatment costs, self-pay package pricing, and the health insurance plans we accept can all be found on our Appointments page. Most insurance plans cover chiropractic care, whether it is in-network or out-of-network plans. It depends on the coverage you accepted when signing up for insurance. If you do not see your insurance company listed or are unsure if you have coverage, we are happy to help you. Give our office a call at 972-925-0384 and select option 1, and we will have a staff member verify your coverage. You can also bring your insurance card to your first appointment and we will verify the benefits with you.

We recommend wearing comfortable, loose fitting clothing that allows you to move easily. If you are coming straight from work or have formal attire, do not worry. We will have gowns for you to change into or will have you adjust certain clothing to make your treatment more comfortable.
